February's collection of designs are all three-word phrases revolving around food. messing around w/text on my vector program, Inkscape, i started as i usually do: "who wants eggs". I like how it's both a question and announcement, both absurd & appropriate, a statement of hospitality transformed into nonsense outside its context
well anyways from there i just decided to see what i could do with a theme & a design program to experiment inside
if these look familiar you should know that what you see here are actually updated versions from last year, polished-up, given some form & texture. did i go a little overboard? maybe : ¬ )
- "ice cream life" was almost "potato chip life" (i'm a savory snack fiend) but i didn't quite like the sound so i crowdsourced some more options and we eventually settled on ice cream, which is more ripe with iconic opportunity anyways; color, shape, etc
- "eat a bean" is far more removed from any visual reference but that's just where i was at the time. i feel like it's reminiscent of a video production company graphic from the 1980s. i use it as a non-sequitor, and also as a harmless pseudo-aggressive imperative. kids love it
- "pour the coffee" i probably had the most fun on, and additionally had the clearest vision of the design at the start, just needing to research how to extend text/shapes smoothly
